Plain version: we read what the car's computer says and tell you what we think it means. We are not there in person, we cannot see rust or a bent chassis, and a report is not a substitute for a mechanic.

You connect a third-party OBD-II adapter to a car, the app reads the diagnostic data the car's computer makes available, and we generate a report: the fault codes found, what they usually mean, a cost estimate for the likely repairs, and an overall suggestion to buy, negotiate or walk away.
Use the report as one input. For a car you are seriously considering, still have it inspected in person.
The wording of the report is produced by an AI model working from the data read from the car and from our repair-cost database. It can be wrong. We check it against our own cost data before showing it to you, but we do not guarantee that any individual statement in a report is accurate, complete or current. The final decision about a car is always yours.
Reports are paid for with credits, bought inside the app through the App Store or Google Play. One credit generates one report. Prices are shown before purchase and include applicable taxes.
If the AI fails to produce a report, the credit is returned to your balance automatically. If something goes wrong and it is not returned, write to support@trustthiscar.com and we will fix it.
Credits do not expire while your account exists, have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account, and are lost if you delete your account.
Right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a digital purchase. By generating a report you ask us to supply the digital content immediately and you accept that your right of withdrawal is lost for that credit once the report has been generated. Credits you have bought but not used can still be refunded within 14 days. Refunds for purchases made in an app store are handled by that store under its own rules.
TrustThisCar works with third-party ELM327-compatible Bluetooth adapters that you buy separately. We do not make them and we do not warrant them. Cheap clones vary in quality: some report a voltage that is a volt low, some drop the connection, some do not support every protocol. Leaving an adapter plugged in for days can drain a car battery. Anything that happens to your vehicle because of the adapter is between you and whoever sold it to you.
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the price you paid for a car, for a sale you did or did not make, for repair costs that differ from an estimate, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event and 50 euro.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law of your country. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Account, then Delete account in the app. We can suspend or close an account that abuses the service, breaks these terms or is used fraudulently. If we close your account without cause, we refund any unused credits.
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and for material changes we tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer you can bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence and you keep the protection of that country's mandatory consumer rules.
